Clearwater, Fla. — Clearwater Fire & Rescue is reopening of Fire Station 48 at 1700 N. Belcher Road. Firefighters moved out and into an alternate location on Range Road in May of 2009, while the station was closed for renovations. The renovation process is wrapping up and firefighters moved back in today. Fire Station 48 was constructed in 1976 and was not constructed to accommodate a diverse workforce and newer department requirements. Renovations included men and women’s restrooms and showers, new dormitory rooms with lockers, kitchen, doors, windows, ceiling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) rooftop unit and ductwork, plumbing and electrical renovations. The project was funded by Penny for Pinellas funds in the Capital Improvements Project (CIP). The cost was approximately $390,000.
